Phyllis "Diane" Chapman, 67, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023.  She was born September 26, 1955 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Ronald and Elsie Reid Smith.  Diane was a 1973 graduate of Cabot High School where she was elected Homecoming Queen, Miss Cabot and was also an Honor Society recipient.  She married Steve Buckingham and they had a precious daughter, Lark.  She was married to Dr. Jerry Chapman from 1988 until his death in 1997 and they shared his children, Melanye and Jace.  At the time of his death, he was serving as Lonoke County Coroner and Diane took on the role of finishing his term as Coroner.  She was involved in many things including being an entrepreneur, she owned the consignment store "Second Time Around" and a shoe store, worked as an office manager for her husband's medical practice and after his death she worked at the Cabot Library.  Diane had a generous heart, was a very classy lady and she was beautiful on the inside and outside.  Her smile, laughter, and eyes would light up the room when she entered.  She was a great cook always making everything from scratch.  One of the loves of her life included her chocolate lab, Abe, but her greatest loves were her family members.

Left to cherish her memory and to miss her dearly are her children, Lark Buckingham, Melanye Chapman Weir and Jace Chapman; grandchildren, JC Wilson (Hannah), Kyle Wilson (Meagan), Christian Weir (Bailey), Hayden Chapman and Lauren Chapman; great-grandchildren, Addison, Jaxson and Avery; sisters, Reida Robinson (Gary) and Sandra Goforth (Rickie), as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.  Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
