Randel Lloyd Fortenberry, 81, of Cabot, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023. He was born October 4, 1941 in Monette to the late Sherman and Bess Brown Fortenberry. Mr. Fortenberry served his country in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. After his service in the military, he became a locomotive engineer with the Cotton Belt and later, Union Pacific Railroad and retired after 38 years. He joined the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen's Union in 1967. Mr. Fortenberry also worked with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department as a Rescue Patrol Officer and after retirement, worked with FEMA in Louisiana. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Burkett and brother, Lawrence Fortenberry.

Mr. Fortenberry is survived by his wife, Jean Smith Fortenberry; his nephew, Mike Burkett; nieces, Sherry Doss and Debbie Massey; uncle, Allen Brown; many loving cousins; three step-children and nine step-grandchildren.

A celebration of Mr. Fortenberry's life will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Fortenberry home. Arrangements are by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816.
