Rex Russell Dory, 78, of Cabot, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025. He was born November 29, 1946, the first child of Charles and Christell (Nee Felker) Dory.

He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1964 where he met and later married Donna DeMent. They had one child, a beloved daughter, Traci.

Russell was a successful businessman who began his career as a sales associate at 555 Auto Parts. By the time of his retirement, he was the President and co-owner of the award-winning chain of stores. His spirit of excellence for order was evident in many areas of his life.

On any given day, you could find Russell watching westerns, playing a competitive game of dominoes or cards, or flipping through his extensive collection of gun value books. He was a lover of watching all sports on the television, and a collector of many things. He found joy in barbequing for his family, watching his great grandchildren play and shoot bb guns in the yard and listening to Elvis. He was an avid hunter and gun collector throughout his life. More than all his hobbies, he found the most joy in being with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, dry humor, fierce loyalty, and big, passionate personality.

Russell is survived by his daughter, Traci Smith (Danny); his granddaughter, Taylor Jones (Zack); his grandson, John R. Smith; his great granddaughters, Indiana and Luna Jones. He has a great grandson due in May. His surviving siblings are Janice Swinney, Chuck Dory, and Rhonda Thomason. Other surviving family members include two nieces, Allyson Reed and Katie Thomason along with many cousins. The family would like to thank all the close friends that Russell was blessed with throughout his lifetime. They meant the world to him, and he was lucky to have such a strong and loving support system.
