Memorial Service is For Bob and Jean Rothfus

Robert "Bob" Earl Rothfus, 97, of Hardy, passed away March 27, 2022. He was born November 18, 1924 in Carlisle, Iowa to the late Earl and Helen Mott Rothfus. Bob was married to Jean Olson Rothfus for 42 years until her passing on January 6, 2016.   Bob served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and was on the island of Iwo Jima when Marines raised the United States flag on Mount Suribachi. After the war, Bob made his career in Real Estate in the Hardy and Cherokee Village area of north-central Arkansas. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Rothfus; a sister, Martha Overton and sons-in-law, Larry Edlemon and Tom Meyer.

Jean Rothfus, 90, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016. She was born May 3, 1925 in Randall, Iowa to the late Herman Olson and Christina Halverson Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and four brothers.

Mr. and Mrs. Rothfus are survived by their children, Dennis Rothfus (Marlene Gibson) of Arkadelphia, Sue Meyer and Sandy Edlemon, both of Brookland; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces. Bob is also survived by one sister, Virginia Munsey of Newton, Iowa.

A memorial service for both Bob and Jean will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Highland Elks Lodge, 15 Elks Lane, Cherokee Village, AR 72529. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816.
