Robert Neal Olmstead, 83, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021.  Neal was born January 21, 1938 in Searcy, Arkansas to Robert E. and Dorothy Olmstead. His childhood home was in Beebe, Arkansas where he graduated high school in 1957.  He grew up with his brothers, Owen and Mike. As a teen, he enjoyed spending his time outdoors, going to the movies and working.  Neal was a life-long member of the Methodist faith.  In later years, Neal and his wife enjoyed being greeters at First United Methodist Church in Cabot where he was a member for many years.

Neal worked for Continental Trailways as a bus driver for 17 years.  He then was hired by Arkansas Best Freight as a driver, where he worked until his retirement in 2012.  In his retirement years, he enjoyed working outside in the yard and staying active by playing golf.  He thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Memphis to play golf with his brothers.  In his early 20's, he met his first wife and from that union had a daughter, Kelley.  In 1978, he met and married the love of his life, Nadine.  Within a few years they had started a family, complete with Robby and Drew. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Neal and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving and caring for his family.

Neal was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Nadine Olmstead.  He is survived by his daughter, Kelley Chambless (Donny); sons, Robby Olmstead and Drew (Stephanie) Olmstead; grandchildren, Clay Chambless, Lauren Chambless and Carys Olmstead; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Gilliam and Wesley Chambless; brothers, Owen (Mackie) Olmstead and Mike (Joyce) Olmstead and his faithful dog companion, Mickey.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Moore's Cabot Funeral home in Cabot, Arkansas.  Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home where his family will be present to welcome friends and loved ones. The family suggests donations in memory of Robert Neal Olmstead be made to Cabot Animal Support Services, 2951 South First Street, Cabot, Arkansas 72023.
