Robert "Bob"
Ronald Phillips
Mar 25, 1951 — Oct 26, 2023
Robert "Bob" Ronald Phillips, 72, of Austin, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023. He was born March 25, 1951 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Austin Glenwood and Rowena (Shields) Phillips. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his foster parents, Quinton and Bessie Farrance; brothers, Frank and Donny Phillips and sister, Mildred Durban.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years, retiring as a Technical Sergeant. His specialty was radio communications, and Bob was assigned several TDYs throughout his career. After retirement from the military, Bob worked at Deluxe Video Services until its closing in the early 2000s. He then went back to school to get his associates in pharmaceuticals and worked as a pharmacy tech for Chambers Pharmacy until his final retirement. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed collecting stamps and eagle statues, gardening vegetables (especially tomatoes and green beans) and being the family's all around handyman. Bob also loved giving his wife flowers on a consistent basis then jokingly hinting that it must be her "secret admirer, Ollie". He had a Good Samaritan spirit and was willing to help anyone in need when physically able to do so – which is what his family will miss the most.
Those left to cherish the memories of Bob include his wife of fifty-one years, Debbie Phillips; children, Dan Phillips, Penny Spangler, and Peggy Moss; seven biological siblings; foster siblings, Don Farrance and Carol Brown; grandchildren, Brian Moss, Keira Phillips, Dorothy Spangler, Julia Moss, and Emi Phillips; as well as many dear friends that were made throughout Bob's military career.
