Rodney Alston Smith, 72, of Cabot, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023.  He was born August 11, 1951 in Union, Mississippi.  Rodney attended the University of Southern Mississippi and was a member of the ATO fraternity.  His allegiance to the ATO brotherhood extended long into his professional life with a large group of life long fraternity brothers.  Rodney retired from a very successful career in the financial world, particularly involved with manufactured home finance.  He was known by friends and family alike to have the gift of making "lemonade" out of any situation and being able to offer sound advice with a kind heart and usually empathy from personal experience.  Rodney was an avid outdoorsman, especially involved with waterfowl hunting and working his dog, Annie.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew and love him.  Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche Powell Smith and Orville Smith; brother, Elton Smith and his beloved dog, Annie.

Survivors include his sisters, Florence Measells and Gwen Staton; nieces and nephews, Marc Measells, Coy Fox and Donna Simons; former wife, Debbie Smith and family pet, Angel.

Graveside services will be 9:00 a.m., Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Mount Carmel Cemetery.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
