Obituary

Roswitha "Rose" Barbara Williams, 76, made the transition peacefully to her heavenly home in the care of her family and friends on February 8, 2020 at her home in Austin.  She was born May 28, 1943 in Mannheim, Germany to the late Heinrich and Babette Seibel.  Rose was raised by her Oma. At the age of sixteen, while living in Germany, Rose met a much older United States Soldier, he was nineteen at the time.  The two fell in love with each other and the only way Dad could marry her was if he re-enlisted.  They were married and started a home together in Mannheim, Germany on October 20, 1961 when she was eighteen and he was twenty-one.  They had a second wedding ceremony on November 4, 1961 and to their union came three children, Shanley, Sharleen and Shane Williams.  Rose was an Army wife who moved numerous times with her husband and children finally settling in Austin, Arkansas in 1978.

Rose wore many hats in her lifetime, some of which included being a school room mother, dedicated sports mom, Sunday school teacher and a secretary for Arkansas Retired Military Association Ladies Auxiliary for several years.  She never missed school functions for her children, even traveling for sports, band, cheerleading and any other activities in which they were involved.  Rose was a long-standing member of Oak Grove First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school in the late seventies and eighties and she would even sing songs in German.  She loved being an American and was so grateful to Dad for that opportunity, but she was also very proud of her German heritage.

Rose could outwork anyone, especially when doing yard work.  She always kept a clean house and a manicured lawn.  She knew the value of a dollar and how to make it stretch.  She served tea for adults and Kool-Aid for the children whenever they would come to visit.  Rose was always willing to help anyone whenever they needed it, however, no one ever had a doubt that in Rose's life her family came first.  In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williams; son, Shane Williams and grandson, Shawn Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shanley (Tammy) Williams and Sharleen Williams; grandchildren, Shastidy (Brandon) Wagner and Shayla Williams.
