Obituary

Sarah Frances Bird, 92, of Cabot, Arkansas, having escaped this light and momentary affliction, has now entered into a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. She passed peacefully from this life on February 2, 2026.

Born on April 16, 1933, in Appleton, Arkansas, to Opal Bartlett and Evelyn Bartlett Browning, Frances lived a life marked by devotion—to her family, her faith, and her friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose strength and spirit touched all who knew her.

Frances grew up in North Little Rock and graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Bird. Their marriage was one of deep love and partnership, lasting 63 years until Bill's passing in 2015.

As she raised and helped support her growing family, Frances worked in a variety of roles over the years. She worked in the jewelry department at M.M. Cohn's Department Store—where Bill also worked as a buyer—owned and operated the Hampton House Gift Shop on Old Conway Highway, and later worked for the State Revenue Department until her retirement. Frances found joy in many hobbies throughout her life. In her early adult years, she enjoyed bowling, later developing a love for gardening and growing flowers. Her greatest passion, however, was ceramics. After moving to Cabot in the late 1980s, she built her own ceramics workshop, where she hosted weekly gatherings with close friends for painting, laughter, and fellowship. Frances was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock for more than 40 years, where her commitment and service reflected her deep love for the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her father, Opal Bartlett; her mother, Evelyn Bartlett Browning; her husband, William C. Bird, Sr.; and her brother, Johnny Bartlett. She is survived by her three sons: William C. Bird, Jr. (Becky) of Sherwood; Robert C. Bird (Elizabeth) of Cabot; and Thomas L. Bird of Cabot; four grandchildren, William C. Bird III (Julie), Ashley Bird, Robert C. Bird, Jr., and Sarah Standridge (Dustin); and seven great-grandchildren.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cabot Health & Rehab for their exceptional care and compassion over the past decade.
