Shelby Jean Carter Amos, of Cabot, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 20, 2025.  She was born to Wilford Carter and Eula Dooley Carter Ruff on March 15, 1937 on Taylors Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. When her husband, Lewis, joined the United States Air Force in 1955, they moved with baby Debbie to Turner AFB in Georgia.  Shelby was a faithful military wife for twenty-four years. Lewis and Shelby moved to Cabot in 1978 before his retirement from the Air Force. She worked in retail and banking for many years.  Shelby had many hobbies which included gardening, yardwork and genealogy.  She was also an avid book reader.  In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Lewis; her stepfather, Hennis Ruff; two sisters and one brother.

Those left to cherish her memory and to miss her dearly are her daughters, Debbie Lolless (Ross) of Fort Worth, Texas and Wanda Amos of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Nikol Munoz (Duane), Kolin Lolless (Carly) and Nikolaus Lolless; six great-grandchildren, Abigail Munoz, Alexander Munoz, Alyssa Munoz, Sadie Lolless, Bodie Lolless and Mia Hennessey; half-brother, Tommy Ruff (Jane) of Virginia, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Lewis.
