Steven Lee Backus, 56, of Austin, left his earthly life and entered into heaven on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. He was born March 26, 1970 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Joe Wayne and Connie Backus. Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Backus.

Steven’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Marzella Backus; his daughters, Lauren Arrants (Baylor) and Fallon Backus; his beloved grandson, Aidan; his father, Joe Backus (Theresa); his sister, Misty Walthall (Jonathan) and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Steven will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, known for his quick wit, generous spirit and unwavering faith. Throughout his life he touched countless lives through his mentorship and friendship. Above all Steven will be remembered for his deep and abiding relationship with Christ which served as a foundation for the life and the legacy he leaves behind.

Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2026 at The Vine Church, 1122 South Second Street in Cabot, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
