Steven Phillip Zumalt, 73, of Cabot, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026. He was born September 22, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Robert and Eva Jackson Zumalt. Steven enjoyed many hobbies, including woodworking, carpentry, genealogy, family history, and learning about new technology and computers. Above all, he was passionate about preaching the gospel. He began preaching at age 13 in small churches and continued through his college years in Oklahoma. He later settled in Cabot with the love of his life, Peggie Ann Mahoney, and worked at Falcon Jet for six years. In 1983, Steven became pastor of Country Chapel, where he faithfully served for 37 years. In 2019, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but he continued actively pastoring until his retirement in 2021. Steven also had a missionary's heart, traveling to India three times and to the Holy Land twice, including once as a mission leader. He was a talented pianist, an avid reader with an extensive, well-used library, and a man known for his sense of humor and pleasant demeanor. He is also remembered by many nieces and nephews, whom he loved like his own children and cherished deeply. In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell and David Zumalt, and his sister, Marcelyn Swire.

Steven is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggie Ann Mahoney Zumalt and his sister, Faith Ruminer of Cabot.

The family suggests donations in memory of Steven Zumalt be made to Gideon's International at Country Chapel, P.O. Box 1270, Cabot, AR 72023 to assist with their Gideon's ministry.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Country Chapel, 3000 Highway 321 N, Ward, AR 72176.
