Ted "Popeye"
Joslin
Apr 9, 1938 — Oct 15, 2023
Teddy Gene "Popeye" Joslin and Hazel "Laverne" Gladden Joslin, both of Cabot, peacefully entered into eternal rest within two days of each other. Popeye was 85 when he passed away October 15, 2023 and Laverne was 90 when she passed away October 17, 2023. They loved traveling, fishing, spending time together and family. They were both faithful members of Southside Church of Christ in Cabot.
Popeye was born April 9, 1938 in Enola to the late John Samuel and Gertrude Annette (Matthews) Joslin. He spent many years as a long distance driver for Fox-Smythe and JB Hunt. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a man who loved his family and had an infectious laugh. In addition to his parents, Popeye was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty-one years, Barbara Ann; stepdaughter, Debbie Darlene Whittle; sisters, Nettie Lorene Shock and Gladys Ray Woodward; brothers, Sam Jr., Buddy Joe, Seth Daniel and twin, Neddy Dean "Wimpy".
Laverne was born May 1, 1933 in Catching, Mississippi to the late Amos Wesley and Iva Chesley (Irwin) Yount. She was the third of eight children in addition to five half-siblings. Laverne became a much-loved member of her husband Ted's extended family, all of whom will cherish happy memories of times spent with them. She will be fondly remembered as an individual who loved to tease others, loved to laugh and was constantly busy serving others. She always enjoyed fishing and even held the 1948 record for the largest trout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James M. Gladden and her husband, Teddy Gene "Popeye" Joslin.
Left to celebrate their lives are stepson, Jimmy of Cabot; nephews, Charles Woodward (Jo-Ed) of Scott, Ronnie Shock of Greenbrier, Bobby Ray Woodward (Debbie) of Mayflower, Todd Joslin (Freda) and Danny Joslin (Angie) both of Cabot; nieces, Judy Gibbons (Larry) of Holdrege, NE, Vickie Kizer (Douglas) of Omaha, NE, Tamara Puckett (J.J.) of Beebe and Dina Hicks (Jerry) of Cabot.
