Tommy Joe
Comstock
Dec 31, 1944 — Oct 9, 2021
Tommy Joe Comstock, 76, passed away October 9, 2021 at his home in Cabot, Arkansas. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all who knew him. He was born December 31, 1944 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Arthur Comstock and Adell Stafford Comstock Herring. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Edrington; sisters, Carolyn Campbell and Peggy Herring and brother, Bobby Comstock.
Tommy is survived by his beautiful wife, Sharon. He was a proud dad to two daughters, Olga (Willie) Rice of Anniston, Alabama and Emily Comstock of Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a proud dad to his son, Daniel (Lauren) Edrington of Cabot. His most prized possessions were his grandkids, Haley Rice, Gracelyn Edrington, Peyton Comstock, Ethan Edrington, Brody Edrington, Braeleigh Comstock, Adalyn Edrington and Liam Brown. Tommy is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Pistak of Calgary, Canada, Betty Graves and Cindy Paris, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by so many.
Tommy was proud of his military service in the United States Navy. He completed his Bachelor's degree at Henderson State University in Arkansas. After working for the Employment Security Division for the State of Arkansas for seven years, he went back to school to complete a Master's degree in Education. Tommy dedicated the remaining years of his working profession to the State of Arkansas working for the Disability System as a Claims Adjudicator. While he enjoyed his long days and nights, his decision to retire and enjoy the remaining period of his "best" days with his family came to him easily.
During retirement, Tommy enjoyed the many trips to schools to support his grandkids in their extracurricular activities. He could often be spotted sitting in a bleacher section cheering his "wrecking crew" on. Winter months were his absolute favorite. From cool mornings on the back deck with a hot cup of coffee in hand, to sitting at the top of his favorite mountain at Mount Magazine. He was a man all about the fall and winter who enjoyed his football weekends! During the evenings, he could easily be found sitting in his backyard oasis with friends and family conversating about the day's activities.
A celebration of Tommy's life will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2021 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Cabot. Inurnment of his ashes will be at 12:00 noon, following the service, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Faith Baptist Church, 301 Bill Foster Memorial Highway East, Cabot, AR 72023 and please note that this donation be given to the Bible Institute program. Tommy's calling for education and his love for the Lord will be represented in this contribution. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
