Vera "Louise"
Williams
Apr 13, 1943 — Nov 11, 2024
Vera Louise Waymack Williams, 81, of Cabot, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on November 11, 2024, surrounded by her beloved children. Louise was born April 13, 1943, the 14th of 16 children, in Cabot to the late Oscar "Lonnie" and Myrtle Carrington Waymack. She was raised between a sequence of brothers and always spoke fondly about how they would play together, making her tough from a young age. She was a self-proclaimed tom-boy and loved to be outdoors enjoying nature for the entirety of her life.
Louise was a 1961 graduate of Cabot High School and married her husband, Garland, in January of that year. As newlyweds, they lived in California before settling back down in Cabot to raise their three children. She was a homemaker throughout their years in school and never issed one of their sporting events, even stepping in as a softball team coach.
She was an avid runner and completed many 5Ks cross the state. In 1988, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and after a hard-fought year of treatment, she was declared a cancer survivor. She worked until her retirement at the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
Louise settled into her role as a grandmother with beaming excitement, planning days of activities with them including trips to the zoo, hiking Petit Jean, and doing all types of crafts. She had many hobbies including reading, line dancing, quilting, painting, gardening, watching Razorback sports, and she was rarely seen without a camera in hand. She stayed active by walking every morning, volunteering in her community, attending family events, taking road trips, cooking Sunday lunches, and attending Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Louise was a vibrant and kind woman who will be dearly missed by her family and all whose life she impacted.
She is survived by her husband, Garland Williams; children, Greg Williams, Beverly Williams and Misty Williams Taylor (JJ); her grandchildren, Bryson Williams and Ashton Zuber (Tyler); her siblings, Gertie Waymack Vinyard (Bill), Jerry Waymack, Ron Waymack (Carma), Anne Waymack Gilliam (Robert); and a host of nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar "Lonnie" and Myrtle Waymack; siblings, Mary Beth Waymack, Gene Waymack, Mack Waymack, Ray Waymack, Odis Waymack, Buddy Waymack, Charles Waymack, Verlene Waymack Williamson, Natalie Goforth, Alcidean "Scooter" Johnson, and Lorene "Sister" Barentine.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, with funeral to follow, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Cabot, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louise's honor to Alzheimer's Arkansas (www.alzark.org). Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service, 501-941-7888.
