Obituary

V erdie Edward "Ed" Meharg, Jr., 76, of Cabot, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024. Ed was born March 19, 1948 in Pontiac, Michigan to Verdie Edward Meharg, Sr. and Opal Dean Whitehurst Meharg. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and he also worked in Civil Engineering at the Little Rock Air Force Base.  He worked as Directory of Engineering at Rebsamen Medical Center.  He was a Christian who loved the Lord and shared his testimony with many people.  Ed was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot.  He enjoyed the simple things in life, fishing, camping, lake time with family at Greers Ferry Lake, and being "Papa" to his four grandchildren.  He enjoyed working with wood and was known to always have an ongoing project.  Ed was preceded in death by his father, Verdie Edward Meharg, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory and to miss him dearly are his beloved wife of almost fifty-eight years, Janice Stephens Meharg; his children, Edward Meharg III, Scott Meharg (Allison) and Renee King (Christopher); his mother, Opal Meharg Sharp; grandsons, Haydn and Hunter King, and twin granddaughters, Claire and Natalie Meharg; sister-in-law, Gail Moran; brother-in-law, Jerry Stephens (Lil), as well as many extended family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Stephens, Haydn King, Hunter King, Bill Panhorst, Christopher Panhorst and Brandon Panhorst.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Sumner Cemetery.  If you would like to make a donation in memory of Ed Meharg, the family suggests Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot or Baptist Health Hospice.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
