William "Bill" Aboitt Smith, Sr., 71, of Cabot, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025. He was born November 19, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Cleo Wayne and Ella Josephine Bailey Smith.

Bill was a Gold Star Father and served his community as Fire Chief for the Mountain Springs Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Bill enjoyed working on and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. Above all, he enjoyed taking care of his family. He was fun, kind, compassionate, and spontaneous. His life experiences made him wise and he had a way of weaving those experiences into teachable moments for others. Some would consider him a mentor. He was real and authentic, and had a loving, gentle, accepting side. He was genuinely happy to see people and always made them feel important. He had a quirky sense of humor, witty intelligence, and caring thoughtfulness. He was a happy man and truly one of a kind. He is so loved and deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son, Sgt. Brandon M. Smith and four sisters, Barbara Ellen Mattocks, Edna Maxine Miller, Dorothy Louise Trostel and Pamela Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 41 years, Holly L. Flores Smith; his children, Brittany L. Smith, William A. Smith, Jr., and William C. M. Smith; siblings, Betty Smith-Bronkema, Cleo Wayne Smtih, Jr., and Dawn Smith-Spicer as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a time of visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816.
