William "Billy" Oric LeMay, 92, of Cabot, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023. He was born April 13, 1930 in Lonoke County to the late William Wilson LeMay, Jr. and Captola McMasters LeMay. Billy accepted Christ as a young adult. He was a sheet metal worker for Essick Manufacturing Company in Little Rock for twenty-nine years and then went on to work for Cabot Manufacturing Company. Billy was a 32° Mason with Cabot Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and providing vegetables for his family and friends. The family will cherish the many fish fries he provided. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Alta Mae Fortson LeMay; daughter-in-law, Vicki Funderburk LeMay of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; in-laws, Jim and Bea Fortson Stout of Ohio, Vestal and Freeda Fortson Johnson of Jacksonville, Emogene Fortson Smith Spence, Guy Spence, John Smith, Homer, Minnie Bearden Fortson and James Donald LeMay, all of Cabot.
Left to cherish his memory and to miss him dearly are his children, Janice LeMay Branscum (Luther) of Leslie, twins, Rickie LeMay (Ann) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Vickie LeMay Keeton (Joe) of Pottsville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Kara Keeton Branscum (Kyle) of Conway, Kellie Keeton Barnett (Joey) of Wynne, J.C. Keeton, Jr. (Lauren) of Little Rock and Reece LeMay (Amanda) of Charleston, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Haylie Branscum and Allie Branscum of Conway, Sophie Barnett of Wynne, William Keeton and Eleanor Keeton of Little Rock, Clara LeMay and John Wesley LeMay of Charleston, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Debbie Clements LeMay of Cabot; brother-in-law, Pete and Velma Lee Fortson of Cabot, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark Smith, nurses and staff of Stonebridge Assisted Living in Cabot for the loving care they provided for Billy. They cared for him as if he was family and we are very grateful. Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2023 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Mount Carmel Cemetery with Pastor Jason Harter officiating.
